Salapi: A book on the evolution of money in the Philippines
‘Salapi’ is a 280-page coffee table book that delves into the long history of the evolution and development not just of coins but also of paper money in the Philippines. The coins and banknotes contained in this book are the best evidence of the trajectory of history that has brought the Philippines to where it is at present. With images from the spectacular and extremely rare collections of BPI and the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Money Museum as well as a handful of local and foreign collectors, the book covers the entire numismatic history of the country.
Herencia: A book on BPI’s art collection
In support of Philippine art and art education, the BPI Foundation published “Herencia: A Legacy of Art and Progress”, a 360-page coffee table book of essays on Philippine art history and more than 400 photos from the BPI art collection. The book is the first collaboration among renowned names in Philippine arts and letters: Dr. Jaime C. Laya, former governor of the Central Bank of the Philippines; University of the Philippines professors Dr. Nicanor Tiongson, Alice Guillermo, and Ma. Victoria Herrera; artist and critic Cid Reyes; and Ramon N. Villegas, who conceptualized and edited the book. Herencia contains in-depth reviews of nearly 1,000 important works of art accumulated by BPI in the course of its 10 mergers and acquisitions. The guidebook “Appreciating Art Through the BPI Art Collection: A Teacher's Guide” accompanies the volume, copies of which were donated to BPI Foundation's partner universities and schools to promote art history to Filipino students.
